The goal posts have been moved again, again

For quite a long time now we framed the scans of our postcards sold on ebay.  It made them stand out and we thought, looked more professional.  We were told that we would have to stop doing this about a year ago; so we stopped.  Now we have to take the remaining frame from cards online.  Several thousand need to be changed before ‘the spring’.  I’m going as fast as I can (re-scanning about 30 a day) but I won’t get them all.  I know that ebay can ‘disappear’ announcements.

There is a service provided that can make the changes for you, but we can’t afford it.

So for a while I won’t be blogging or visiting or surfing much.

Never give up revisited

Just over 5 years ago, I was writing posts for my Alphabet Challenge and came to the letter ‘N’*.

Here is the post.

Just recently my youngest son, who is in his early 20s, has started to think more seriously than ever about what to do with his life. I lent him my copy of “Bring out the Magic in your Mind”. I was pleased to see that the book speaks to him just as it spoke to me at around his age. Recommended reading if you need to top up on self- belief .

* It appears that I never got further than the letter 'S'

Have you got an Etsy Shop?

I’m thinking of setting up an Etsy Shop so that I can specifically sell French fantasy postcards to English speaking countries (My eBay shop is mainly in French as my business is registered in France). If you’re reading this and have already set up a shop I’d like to know:

Is it easy to set up?

Do you get many sales?

What do you think of the charges?

Any feedback would be very welcome.

Help!!! Please

In the last couple of days when we’ve been rolling over our announcements on eBay and also creating new announcements we’ve been getting the message (more or less this as it is in French):

Javascript Unescape/FromCharCode …and HTML refresh are refused

It took 40 minutes to roll over 25 postcards this morning. I’ve checked that we’re not knowingly using forbidden scripts and any links we have are inside our personal part of our announcements. They only lead to other parts of our store anyway.

My theory:

This seems to be happening randomly and I wondered if it was something to do with the ads that eBay places onto our announcements. I understand that JavaScript is to do with movement. Could this be happening when an ad that moves or refreshes comes up on our page?

We have written to eBay – two days ago. No reply as I write this. Could this mean they are having problems too?

We are tearing our hair out over this. Have you ever had this problem? Any ideas as to how to solve this?

They’ve moved those goal posts again.

eBay France have decided that from the autumn we are not to put borders around our images. We’re not happy about stopping. The big question is will I have to re-scan over 5000 postcards in my store? Also items on sale will have to be pictures of the item and not copied from the press or a catalogue. That doesn't concern us.

How is it in your country?

Which image do you prefer?

Starting again

I’ve been messing around trying to make a living on line for almost 10 years now. I’ve made big mistakes and sometimes made money too. This blog itself was born out of breaking the rules and getting caught (though I didn’t understand what I was doing was wrong at the time).

This month a decision was made to wrap up the blog traffic exchange that we had founded almost 3 years ago. It was sad, but there was no point in surfing just so that members got visits from the site. I was lost at first, but growing in my head, day to day, have been lots of new ideas and projects.

Every cloud has a silver lining

It worked for us

I don’t know how it was/is in your country, but eBay France set up an ad system very similar to Google adWords. I took advantage of it straight away as I had been successfully running adWords ads for several years at the time. It certainly brought in more customers and sales. At one point eBay could tell you how much each ad was earning for you. Fortunately for us these ads were not taken up by many other eBay sellers, so we were nearly always top or second position and with our eye catching logo, it was ideal for us.

Sadly these advertisements have now been withdrawn. For us, they were well worth the money.

Splash!

I recently made myself a couple of splash pages. I was really pleased with them and am now using them to promote ExposeYourBlog! on the traffic exchanges that I belong to.

You might have noticed pages similar to mine elsewhere. They seem to be really popular. It’s easy to understand why, as they are so easy to make and use and look good. We’re all getting them at Click Voyager. Free members are allowed 3 so if you want more you need to upgrade.

As well as great splash pages Click Voyager offers smooth surfing and lots of fun and games like hangman, CV slots spins (fruit machine), hi lo, I love Mondays and so on. Free members can have as many websites as they like in rotation, but as they point out, the more you have the less frequently they will get seen as they eat through your credits.

Why not check out Click Voyager ?
